About Stacy Garrop
Dr. Stacy Garrop is an internationally recognized, Illinois-based composer and educator. She brings extensive real-world experience to her clinics, having served as a composer-in-residence for organizations like the Albany Symphony and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and as the inaugural Emerging Opera Composer for the Chicago Opera Theater. A dedicated mentor, she has led workshops for the Cabrillo Conductors/Composers Workshop and held guest residencies at over a dozen major universities nationwide.
After 16 years teaching composition at Roosevelt University, she transitioned to a full-time freelance career writing for orchestra, opera, wind ensemble, choir, and chamber groups. Her catalog includes commissions from the Pittsburgh Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Kronos Quartet, and Chanticleer, as well as honors such as the Barlow Prize and an Arts and Letters Award in Music.
